June 1987 - April 1992Development of self-sufficiency plans for clients requesting Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF). Determined eligibility for all public assistance programs: Food Stamps, TANF, Employment-Related Day Care program, and all medical programs, including programs for senior and disabled clients. Wrote up overpayments and referred cases to the investigator as appropriate. Researched complex policy manuals to ensure correct decisions and referrals. Counseled clients in developing plans to obtain & keep employment. Worked with clients in the assessment program to address immediate needs to stabilize families and work toward self sufficiency. Assisted clients with household budgets, made referrals to other resources in the community as needed. Scheduled clients into ongoing self-sufficiency classes & activities after determining clients' needs and strengths. Monitored attendance in classes & activities, followed up on all missed activities/classes. Determined if good cause existed for non-compliance. Developed new plans as needed. As lead worker, staffed cases and ensured appropriate policy and procedures were followed. Trained new and transitioning staff in state and federal policies and procedures. January 2002I began my work with OregonETA in 2002 when I volunteered to chair the annual conference "Rendezvous for Workforce Development Professionals." I have chaired or co-chaired the conference every year since then (with a couple of exceptions when I served as a mentor to the Chair). I served several years as President of the Board.
